Position Title: Assistant Federal Public DefenderCourt Name: Central District of California City: Los Angeles State: CA Permanent Position: YES Salary Min: $53,466 Salary Max: $97,987 Open Until Filled: YES Full Description: The Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California is accepting applications for an attorney position in its Capital Habeas Unit. In addition to representing condemned California inmates in their habeas proceedings, CHU attorneys represent noncapital habeas inmates and federal criminal defendants. Qualifications: All applicants must be members in good standing of the California Bar or, if a member in good standing of another Bar, applicants must be willing to sit for the next California Bar exam. Candidates must possess superior writing ability and a commitment to the defense of death sentenced individuals. Candidates should have significant experience in state and/or federal criminal law, death penalty litigation, or habeas corpus litigation. Salary commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
